Joomla 1.5 Released
Joomla has announced the release of its latest version of the Award Winning Content Management System. Version 1.5 has been some considerable time in coming, with beta releases having been tested over the last six months.
Visually the new version has a cleaner interface and many notable usability improvements, but behind the scenes is where the real changes have been made. Joomla 1.5 has a completely rewritten core codeset, complying with latest "best practice" coding methodologies.
Because Joomla 1.5 is a completely new version of the program, we will not necessarily be upgrading sites currently running on version 1.0 because of legacy compatibility with some third party plug-ins and components, although we will be using 1.5 as standard for new Joomla deployments that don't require legacy add-ins.
Joomla 1.0.x will continue to be supported for the foreseable future, indeed there is an imminent patch release (1.0.14) that we will be applying to existing sites over the next few weeks.
Joomla has proved itself to be a top quality CMS over the last two years, and the new architechture of version 1.5 will allow it to maintain its position in the market.
